About ProVol Digital
Digitalisation has recently developed rapidly, partly due to the pandemic. In order to support NGOs and the volunteer coordinators in staying up to date, the project “ProVol Digital” was launched. More and more activities will take place online in the future. Offline activities must be adapted to be organised online and that means people in NGOs must be prepared and trained to keep up with the latest technology and progress in digitalisation.
Therefore, ProVol Digital aims to explain digitalisation for associations and organisations in an easy and understandable way. Through several handbooks and workshops, the project aims to make more digital volunteering possible and, at the same time, to help existing volunteering opportunities to be managed better through digital tools. This project is created to inspire and empower other organisations to enter the digital sphere as well. And subsequently, more services, help and support from NGOs will be available online.
Results
Digitalisation in volunteer work
IO 1 includes a general training for organisations and associations covering the basics of digital work. The partners present a toolbox containing 80 useful digital tools. Related reports, policy papers and guidelines show why change is necessary and what the opportunities of digitalisation are.

Digital volunteer management
Through the project “ProVol Digital- Professional volunteer management and training through digitalisation” we are offering this recommendation guide for NGOs and volunteer coordinators to stay up to date. The aim of this guide is to equip NGOs and volunteer coordinators with digital expertise and to adapt their skills in dealing with technology to the current standards. Through this tool we want to inspire and empower other organisations to enter the digital sphere as well.

Digital volunteering
A lot of people would be interested in volunteering, but are not as flexible or mobile to participate in the common volunteer “offline” face-to-face opportunities (e.g. because of working hours, being immobile, living on the country side …). Virtual volunteering opportunities can empower them to volunteer regardless of these limitations.

About the partnership
ProVol Digital is a European partnership between Germany, Austria, Romania and Czech Republic. This partnership, coordinated by the German NGO Gemeinsam leben & lernen in Europa e.V., aims to develop an accessible, flexible and sustainable European model for training for volunteer coordinators and volunteers to improve the effectiveness of volunteering activities and the quality of the services they deliver. It is funded by the EU-program Erasmus +.
